H Polaroid παρουσίασε στη CES 2015, πέρα από τα οικονομικά Android tablets της, και ένα smartphone, το Polaroid Selfie, μία συσκευή που ειδικεύεται σε… καταλαβαίνετε τι. Η εμφάνισή του, όμως, δεν έκανε κάποιους χαρούμενους.
Για την ακρίβεια, όπως ίσως μπορέσατε να αντιληφθείτε κοιτώντας τη φωτό του, φαίνεται πως εξόργισε την Oppo, που είδε στο smartphone αυτό μία αντιγραφή του δικού της Oppo N1, χάρη στην ύπαρξη της περιστρεφόμενης κάμερας.
Η Oppo έκανε μάλιστα και δήλωση για την “ομοιότητα” που παρατήρησε, αναφέροντας χαρακτηριστικά, τα εξής:
It was recently reported that the Polaroid Selfie smartphone released at the CES 2015 has a remarkably similar design to the patented rotating camera phone OPPO N1. However, OPPO has not licensed the design of the rotating camera to any third parties, nor has us done that in any OEM way. We will continue to keep track of the event and reserves the right to take further legal action.

OPPO does not stop here with the rotating camera on N1. An upgraded model, the N3, was launched in late 2014 featuring a motorised rotating ‘selfie’ camera, which could rotate for 206 degrees and makes new shooting modes like auto panaroma possible. Perfect for hands free selfies!
Σε κάθε περίπτωση, το Polaroid Selfie, o “κλώνος” του Oppo N1, είναι μία συσκευή με οθόνη 5,5 ιντσών ανάλυσης 720p, οκταπύρηνο chipset της Mediatek, 2GB RAM, 16GB αποθηκευτικού χώρου χωρίς επέκταση microSD, περιστρεφόμενη κάμερα 13MPixels και Android Lollipop.
Το αν θα το δούμε στην αγορά μάλλον εξαρτάται από τις προθέσεις της Oppo και την κατάληξη της… διαμάχης τους.
